Does anyone know who makes the engines in Boomer tractors? I'm giving serious consideration to a TC-25D but I'm a bit concerned about the engine. A JD salesman claimed the engine is made by Fiat. I hope that's not the case. The Boomer salesman claims the engine, and the rest of the drive train, are made in Japan.Any help is appreciated!

The engines are made in Japan by Shibaura. The tractor is assembled in Atlanta, and I think Fiat is the NH parent Company. ....

When I first saw a NH 1520 engine, it looked rather old. Then a saw a TC series, and it looked more modern. A friend told me the NH was pretty on the outside, but the insides had not been modernized in years. This last week I've read a few posts about Boomer engines smoking whenthey're first turned on. Are NH's insides as modern and good as the outside looks? Can someone shed some light? Thanks. ....

Geez, my diesel smokes when I first turn it on as well. This sounds serious. The exhaust smells too. I don't think that's good either. It also makes a knocking sound when I turn it on. My car dealer told me a knocking sound in my engine is bad. You know, a friend of mine told me that John Deere parts are made in Poland and the electrical system is from England. I also heard from someone that Kubota is really over rated and fails a lot more than people are willing to admit. Is any of this true? ....

Does that carry back to when the NH compacts were Ford? I just posted a request for sources of a short block for a 1910, and wonder if Shibaura itself has an outlet/site on Internet. Anyone know? ....

Mason - If you have nothing to contribute, keep it to yourself. For most of us, buying a tractor is a big decision - one that we don't take lightly. If you have a diesel car that has problems, too bad. You should have done some homework before you bought it! Maybe you have too much time on your hands and should spend it fixing your car. Then the rest of us can make this communication forum do what it's intended to do. Are you a New Holland dealer by chance? If that's the case, I can understand why you enjoy a smokey engine and I forgive you. ....

My 2000 tc 18 boomer smoked all diesel smoke on start up it fires on heat of compression so a cold motor smoke fool does it smoke when hot ??

If it’s blue smoke it is lube oil if black it is fuel when hot and black it is too rich bad injection it knocks on startup due to no oil pressure after 30seconds mine stops smoothed out mine has almost 900 hours burns no oil but I use lube oil for tractor trailer engines 20 40 weight it turns black in 2 months of grass cutting due to detergent in the oil change it every 90 hours and filter every 45 hours it will last forever.

You guys are clueless about diesels better get a gas tractor I can cut my 4 acres each week for a month on 5 gal of fuel a gas used that each week oh well it is a jap motor runs flawlessly 60 in mower deck run at 2000 rpms cutting heavy grass hydro static drive 4 wheel drive two speed low and high got it now guys
